Why my grand am gt have problems like when I started it, it come on for a second than shuts of and it take a while to start back up

Many possibilities assuming you have the 3.4 V6: Fuel pressure regulator leaking. Any engine: Clogged fuel filter. Time for a tune up. Fuel pump going out.
