Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 pontiac vin#1G2NF12F42C152011 with a broken timing chain, i have it
removed and am able to replace, however my question is, is the4 2.2 echotec a "Zero
clearance" engine? did not want to get too far into it if it has to be scrapped.

Yes, the ecotec is designed (like many OHC engines) as an interference engine. If your cam timing is far enough off, and you turn the motor over, you bend all of your valves as they kiss the tops of the piston.
