Add Keyless Entry

Asked by John Jun 07, 2019 at 04:12 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Question type: Car Customization

I recently got an 03 Grand AM SE, basic model, that has electric Locks Buttons
on both the driver and passenger front doors, and all four door auto lock.
I am trying to determine if the car is equipped with Key-less Entry/Security.
Fobs are cheap these days, but want to know if the car is or is not equipped
and can I add it the Factory option if not equipped.

I believe all that gen grand am were equipped with keyless. But when you buy it you have to take it to a gm dealer and have them program it. That's what I did on my 04.

Keyless Entry was Still Optional on the SE on Early production 2003 believe it or not. Most were pre-ordered with that option, but you could get one without. If it doesn't have it, you will need to get a RFA module from the junk yard from the same year. The wiring will be there for it already. It goes under the back dash cover right beside the trunk light. Try to find one as close to your date of manufacture as possible. Find someone with a Tech 2 or Tech2Win and and Jbox. They will need to go into the Body Control module and tell it that is has keyless entry (it is RPO code AU0). Then you can program your Keyfobs with the same Tech2.
