I have a 04 Grand am, overheating, consuming coolent.

04 Pontiac Grand am: Changed the water
pump, bled the air, new resevior. Water is
literally disappeareing from the resevior. Car
idles at temp 195°. I've flushed the lines and
re bled them. I can idle for hours at 195°, I
drive a mile up the road and it's red lined.
Please help.

If there's a stop leak Product in the cooling system, get it out of there. This is definitely a coolant circulation problem or possibly a blown head gasket. With the engine cold pressurize the cooling system with a pressure tester. Start the engine. If the needle on the pressure tester bounces it's a blown head gasket. If that checks out ok use a chemical cleaner to flush out the cooling system. Hope that helps! Jim
