2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE V6 / 3.4 liter Overheating

Asked by Kittin Feb 14, 2018 at 06:33 AM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car is overheating and doesn't give me
heat normally inside the car. This has been
going on for some time.  I drive about 15
minutes away from work and the car will
overheat numerous times. I have figured out
that if I keep an eye on the temperature
gauge when it starts to rise if I take my foot
off the gas the gauge will start to drop. At
this time I notice I will get heat inside the
car. This is only temporary as I continue to
drive after the temperature gauge goes
down the heat goes away and replaced with
cool air then cold air and I know the car is
getting ready to overheat again. I continue
this process numerous times just to make it
to work.  It's winter and very cold my car can
sit all weekend long and only take 4 minutes
before it starts to overheat. Please help

This happened to me one time my car overheated like 8 times in one day and I couldn't figure out why so I pushed it home and somebody seen me and thank God they were a mechanic it was a hose under my hood leading to my radiator.
