Take your Freon charge rig and open the valve slowly to confirm it's working. Did you remember to thread the valve stem in deep to first puncture the can of Freon? Are you plugged into the correct port? Sometimes you can charge into either port With Engine Off by warming the (upside down) can gently with a hair dryer. If you're not sure, get someone at the parts store who knows this stuff to help you. Wear safety glasses. A completely empty system takes about two 14 ounce cans. Don't over charge.

After puncturing the can, remember to back the valve off to open the flow.
