i can't put gas in my gas tank

i can't fill my 1994 pontiac grand prix's gas tank, no gas comes out of the pump,
is the solinoid defective

Looks like your asking two questions. If you can’t get fuel into the fuel tank the there is a problem with the fuel filler tube and vent line. If there is no fuel to the fuel rail then it could be a fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel pump fuse, totally plugged fuel filter, or and ignition switch.

If the gas station pump keeps shutting off, like your gas tank is full, the vent valve in the gas tank is stuck closed. It's part of the fuel pump assembly. Hope that helps! Jim
