Question type: Maintenance & Repair

95 grand prix acts like transmission is
slipping and speedometer jumps whenever
you let off the gas. If you stop and shut off
the car it will shift fine for awhile. Tranny
fluid is fine. Any ideas

THE 4T65E TRANSMISSION IN YOUR CAR HAS A CLUTCH DRUM THAT CRACKS AND DROPS THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE ON THE CLUTCH PLATES. IF IT IS DRIVEN VERY LONG WITH THIS CONDITION IT WILL STOP MOVING. IF IT FEELS LIKE IT IS SLIPPING IT PROBABLY IS A RELIABLE TRANSMISSION SHOP CAN REBUILD YOUR TRANS FOR $1800 - $2000 THAT REBUILD WILL INCLUDE A CONPLETE CLUTCH REPLACEMENT AND CLUTCH DRUM THAT HAS BEEN HEAT TREATED TO REMOVE THE BRITTLENESS AT THE WELDS TO PREVENT FUTURE CRACKING. OR FIND A GOOD USED UNIT.
