1996 Pontiac Grand Prix 2nd gear start warning light

im pulling out of the driveway ,and i see (2nd gear start } light (green}, come on ,and
my car now , begins in 2nd gear but then normally shifst from then on,     ?What
should i do to get the light off ,and my car to run normal again?

there should be a switch on the knee bolster panel, lower left of the steering wheel
