Is there any ''trick'' to getting the back 3 spark plugs out on my 1998 grand prix 3800 engine or it as ''simple'' as a couple of hours on a warm day?

They are screwed into the heads. Shouldn't be too difficult a task. Good luck.

there isnt any real trick to it, because of their location, you will have to navigate by feel mostly, its not as tight of a fit as it may look, just be patient, and do them one at a time. i have a 1995 pontiac transport with a 3800, definately a tighter fit, but can be done in the backyard with the right tools

my 2000 lesabre 3800 was abit difficult. my #6 was very close to the firewall. even with my slim hands, i had a rough time accessing & quit. probably couldabut its a long reach. i went from the bottom to access my #2 and #4 by feel. btw... some say you can tilt the engine forward? i never tried that myself. anyone done this??? good luck

I'm told the recommended way is to remove the front two engine mounts, push the car forward so the engine moves away from the firewall, chock the wheels. Any wonder GM has had trouble if they can't even design a car that you can change the plugs on without an engineering degree?

yes you can tilt the engine forward a few inches, just remove the upper "wishbone" engine mounts. this will allow the power train to rotate forward, pivoting on the lower mounts. even so, getting the rear spark plugs requires navigating by feel.

Thanks, I finally got through it today. I've got the scratched, cut and bruised hands and arms to prove it.

I have a 04 Pontiac Grand Prix and I think I broke one of the spark plugs in the back
