1998 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Radio Not Working

Asked by Despresso Apr 11, 2020 at 03:47 AM about the 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix 4 Dr SE Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The stock radio in my 98 Grand Prix is not functioning. The tape loader
works fine however I get no audio output, the digital clock is functioning
however the bulbs behind are dead or not working. The backlit buttons are
lighting up correctly.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Since only a portion of the radio is working, I would say you have a failed circuit in the radio. Time to replace it as it is not worth fixing, let alone finding someone who could. You can find a used OEM one on ebay or pick up a aftermarket one on crutchfield.

Just be happy you got 22 years out of the original! It probably died and replacement is the cure. Fixing it will cost as much as buying a new unit with all the modern conveniences (blu tooth, USB connectivity, remote operation, etc. However, it may be hard to find one that will play your tapes!
