Power steering pulley broke

Asked by Skkywalka Feb 15, 2016 at 01:17 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So while my car was getting worked on they put
some power steering fluid in the reservoir to look
for a leak but it all fell out the bottom and got on
my serpentine belt. They told me they put brake
cleaner on it to get it off and it will just make some
noise. When I asked if it will cause any more
problems they said no. That night I'm driving and it
falls off, my engine almost overheats and my
battery starts dying. The next day I looked at it and
saw that the power steering pulley is loose and
slides back and forth. I've been driving without
power steering for about a month and I'm not sure
if it broke because of what they did or if it was
because I don't have any powersteering. So could
you try to answer that and then also could
someone explain how to fix the pulley?
