Asked by Dawn Oct 04, 2020 at 05:52 PM about the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The RPM fluctuates up and
down, and wants to die when
idling.  It also hesitates when

Sound like it may be the "idle air control valve" IAC if your car runs good above 35 mph that is where i would start...if your "check engine light is on" have the parts store scan for codes to help verify it...it a simple bolt on part so no need to take it to a shop...I would also check for vacuum leaks, clean the "mass air flow sensor" MAF and replace the air filter if it hasn't been replaced for awhile. Ask me any question you like and keep me posted...Good Luck, Tim
