2001 pontiac grand prix heater problems
Asked by jgm0416 Apr 08, 2015 at 01:54 PM about the 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The heater was working fine and then the upper coolant elbow broke. I replaced both the upper and lower coolant elbow. Car is running fine, no leaks, not overheating. But now the heater is not blowing hot air and the heater core hoses are cold when it is at running temp.

Did you bleed the air from the system, if not, there is a bleeder screw for the cooling system
I'll be damned, lol no I didn't, but makes perfect sense. Thanks, I'm not used to working on GM's. So if you replace the coolant elbows you have to bleed the system?
awesome, thanks for the help
I also had this issue in my '04, it was the plug located under the glove box kept coming loose
I just needed to bleed the air from the system. I added coolant, ran it till it got up to running temp, opened the bleeder screw, cycled the air out and the heater worked perfectly. Thanks again for the help
I got a 04 grand am with 3.4 in it and I got a leak coming from a drain plug that is for A/C does anyone know what the problem is how about going and fixing it
