Needing help with a Pontiac question

So I replaced my fuel pump on my Pontiac Grand
Prix n it has a full tank but every now n then it dies
n black smoke comes out n acts like it’s not getting
any gas idk what else it could be help plz

Black smoke indicates it's running on a very rich mixture. That can be caused by leaking fuel injectors. But many other possiblitiles. If you have a scan tool, start by reading the short and long term fuel trim numbers to see if the rich mixture is being commanded by the PCM.

Also see if it is throwing any error codes that would indicate a different fuel system problem. Another sign of leaking fuel injectors is pre-ignition knock or backfires upon deceleration.
