Can you add coolant through overflow

I'm not sure I understand your question. But if the plastic coolant recovery tank is empty then, with the engine cold, you should add coolant directly to the radiator. Fill the radiator to the very top. Then fill the plastic recovery tank to the full cold line. If the coolant in the plastic recovery tank is at the add line you can just add coolant to the plastic recovery tank to bring the level up to the full cold line if the engine is cold. If the engine is warm or hot add coolant to about one inch above the full cold line. Hope that helps! Jim
