how do I fix the driver side window so it
goes up and down

The regulator is bolted in, not riveted so replacement is relatively simple. There are two things that fail on these assemblies. Most likely it is the cable that draws the window up and down. It could also be the motor. Order the complete motor and regulator assembly from the auto parts store. It's not much more expensive than just buying one or the other part and it saves doing the job again.
