should change the thermostat too. did u check for leaks? also, is your hoses ok (no collapsing when running)? has the system been fully bled of air (engine must be cool and running w/ radiator cap off to fill)? check and give more info. any check engine lights?
bleeder valve on upper radiator neck going into intake on that i belive, saved me a big headache when my uncle showed me
bleed when car is running, with another vent, so cap off
if the radiator is clogged with scum it wont cool. clean or check radiator, clean or replace if needed

Yes to all the above and never run engine that hot you will take out head or intake gaskets.
the water pump has nothing to do with the tempature. the pump just pushes the water threw the system. did you even check to see if the pump was working? 1st get a repair manual. check your radiator to see if the water is flowing ,also check the thermostat.
The same thing is wrong with mine over heating bad I think it's the intake manafold gasket?
