Runs a little hot

Asked by Fordman73096 Jul 31, 2018 at 01:53 PM about the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just put a new thermostat in my car and it idles at
good temp drives on highway at good temp but in
town it will get to about 210 or 1 line above it. What
could be causing this? No bubbling in overflow and
no milkyness in oil

Sounds like there maybe still a little air in the system try bleeding like this. Remove cap from overflow tank fill with antifreeze to full mark leave cap off and start vehicle and let idle you will notice level in tank start to rise this is normal once thermostat starts to open level in tank will drop add more antifreeze to full mark then put cap back on.
