stalls out randomly

i have a 04 grand prix and for the past few days its been starting just like normal but it
dies when i go like a block down the road, i have had my alternator and battery
checked and they're both good. my starters good, first thought was that the car was
running on the battery itself but since it checks out ok, im just confused and frustrated.
i do get a little bit of warning before it dies, the tachometer jumps up and down about
100 rpm and it drops to zero while this happens whether i push the gas or not. and
then it just stops like i just turned it off. i have no warning light to help narrow the
problem down. one time it displayed "battery charging failure" or something like that.
but only after i tried restarting it a few times and thats all its said since. any
suggestions on what i should check?

I had the same problem in my 99 grand am found out to be the belt was loose due to a bad tensioner pulley and ended up breaking later because i didnt get it fixed. You may want to try looking at that.

my 2004 was doing the same, map sensor took care of the problem.......
