at low speeds and when braking i have a squealing noise coming from the front left of my
2004 grand prix gt1 i just replaced the strut and the wheel bearing and the brakes are
good i know need the rack & pinion replaced due to a clicking when i turn the wheel and
inner tie rods could the squealing noise be caused by the same thing or am i looking at a
different issue all together

the brakes are good and the noise happens even if the wheels are straight i know the inner tie rods are shot im just hoping im not having another issue like the cv or something stupid

the noise doesnt happen when appling pressure to the brakes wheel bearing strut ball joint pads and rotors are all new and greased with lithuim

Are you sure the noise is coming from the front? It certainly sounds like a brake issue to me. I'd check the back brakes. Sometimes its deceiving where the noise is coming from.

A worn, or cold serpentine belt can also make a squealing sound at low speeds.

I have squealing to in my 2000 Grand Prix sounds like it's coming from the driver's side I've had the inner and outer tie rods replaced new tires and Alignment it's been balanced my ball joints have been checked I have new front top motor mounts. But it's not just a squeal or a Squall it's there's also a vibration on acceleration and a rubbing sound it sounds like sometimes as well as the squeal. I'm also eating tires on the front end about every other month one side or the other will have belts showing through and they're chopped up

Has the car been in an accident or gone off the road? You’ve got a serious front end problem there. Take it to a competent alignment shop. They’ll be able to identify what is broken or bent.

It has been wrecked but that was some 100,000 or more miles ago. Ive had it at two different shops. The one place is the ones that said it was in nner and outer tie rods and tires so i had a mechanic friend of mine so the tie rods since i didnt have the money after paying trt hat shop over 500$ for the oil change 2 tires then had a break fluid leak they fixed and the oil sending sensor replaced and an all over inspection. After friend did the rods i took it t9 another shop to get aligned and a day later it was worse than it was before I took it to them so I took it back again and they drove it and put it back up on the lift and said I need a new tires I still needed the back ones but there's something else going on and it's not when I first start driving it in the mornings it goes fine then it's when I come to like my first stop sign or the first slow down and try to speed back up is when it starts to vibrate. I'm getting the transmission mounts replaced in the next week or two. But I don't have much money to be dumping into this car after dumping what I've already put into it. So I'd like to know the problem and just get the problem fixed instead of fixing things that don't need to be done. And then still having a shaking car that I can't take on the highway or out of town

I agree. You have to find the problem first. Why are you changing the transmission mounts. Do you know it needs them or is this just a shot in the dark? If it is, cancel that appointment and spend the time and money on finding the problem. There is something seriously wrong with this car if it vibrates and eats tires that fast. I'd be a bit afraid to drive it. I would take it to a different shop for an evaluation. Sometimes it just takes a different technician to spot something. They need to inspect everything, front and back, Make sure they understand the severity of the problem and pay a little extra if you have to to ensure they don't skip over anything. The other side of this is its an old car and you've already spent too much on it. There comes a time to cut your losses and look for a different vehicle. Good luck.

Thank you for your help. The guy that's doing the transmission mounts said that I needed them, and said that the rest of it all underneath their looks good I don't know if I can trust him or not he's the one who did the motor mounts to. I don't have the money to go buy another car I really don't have the money to put into this one either but at least this one's a little bit at a time. What in your honest opinion do you think it would probably be. Since the tie rods have been changed and I got new tires put on I haven't had to replace those tires and that was at the beginning of March and they still look good so that might have been the problem on that plus it needed a line really badly and that's been done to. But there is still something very very shaky when accelerating. So something is still wrong.

That's meant to say it needed an alignment a really badly then that's been done too.

Could be bad front axles. They will vibrate especially under acceleration. Good news is, if you go easy on it you can drive it that way for a long time. Also check your spark plugs. If they’re really far gone (like mine were) the engine will misfire so bad it creates a vibration that feels like it’s coming from the front end. If the tires are wearing ok, you probably fixed that problem fixed with the front end parts and the alignment. Try not to spend any more money on it and just drive it. It’s an old car and can’t have that much life in it. Just take care of it and don’t abuse it. Good luck.

I did the wheel bearings and pads. I noticed a noise after driving it.the plate behind the wheel bearing on the bottom got bent and rubbing on the rotor. If that helps anyone.
