2004 Grand Prix does not stay running

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 04 Grand Prix....it starts but does not stay running unless you hold the
accelerator down. About a week ago I started it and it killed, restarted it and held the gas
a little and it jumped to 3 RPM's and wouldn't go down even after I let off the accelerator.
Haven't had a problem since. Today started fine, was in traffic and it killed. Now it doesn't
stay running....fuel pump? or sensor?

I think I found what it is, I just don't know what this is called....can anyone help? Vacuum line? Does this copper pipe come out of this piece or do I have to buy the whole assembly?

Take it in to an auto part store. They will be able to identify it and tell you what other parts you may require to go with it.

It's an EGR valve and it runs around $150 depending on where you live and what parts store you go to.....
