My car acts like it wants to cut on then I have to push the gas for it to jump on and
then when I put it in drive it cuts off

Sounds like a tune-up problem. Check out the easy stuff like plugs, fuel flow, dist cap/coil packs, sensors, or timing. Have your trouble codes checked by a tech if you do not have the capability to do it yourself.
