Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2004 Grand Prix is giving me “charging
system failure” this has happened before
but never lasted more than the one
warning, but now it is doing it again and
keeps displaying message with the ding
sound. I see a lot of us with the same
issue, what is the deal?

It's an old car. Things are going to start wearing out. I don't think there's a "deal". Check that your battery connections are clean and tight. Check that the ground connections are also clean and tight. Have the alternator tested as Tom said. While your at it have the battery load tested, although I don't think that's your problem in this case. Does't sound like a big deal, but something is needing attention and if you ignore it you'll end up stranded with a dead battery.

I have the same issue! But when my gears went wild and shut off, i changed my battery 2 weeks ago and found out my battery exploded. Now we had it checked for free with the charging system failure and it didnt say anything. The guy said it might be a bad sensor. But im worried its not. Did anyone figure out whats wrong with it?
I had same issue, it turned out to be a short in one of the headight wires. Repaired the wire fixed the trouble. That was 3 years ago. Now it on again but this time I need a battery.
