how do i reset my gauges on my dash

i changed my starter and i took the battery a loose and when i start my car the gauges on
dash jumps all the way over and go back like the car is off and the the place where i read
the milage says that the car has no gas i dont know how to reset it

I had to change my computer that's what 2as wrong
