2005 Grand Prix wheel bearing?

Asked by Lakrzfn Apr 09, 2019 at 05:50 PM about the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Grand Prix with 75,000 miles.
Just had the front brakes done with new
rotors. The next day I notice a scraping
noise when applying the brake. It’s almost
like the warning tab sound and it’s repetitive.
Took it back to the shop and they’re saying
it’s the wheel bearing. From what I recall
wheel bearing is a rumbling sound and
increases with speed and turns. Mine only
comes when braking and it’s a scraping
sound. Anyone have experience with a bad
wheel bearing making that noise

If if is the wheel bearing as they say, put the car on a jack or lift and, with the brake off, grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try to wobble it by pushing in alternately with each hand. Id]f there is any wobble, it is probably the bearing. If not, have them fix your brakes (for free!).
