06 Pontiac Grand prix

I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8 v6 .it was
overheating I replaced water pump thermostat
Purge the air with line Purge the air out of the lines
put a new radiator cap fans come on still
overheating I flush the heater core in the radiator
no leaks anywhere and it got really hot and now it
acts like it's in limp mode but my dash center says
it's not anything wrong with it but it won't go over
3,000 RPMs now there is a little white smoke but
just seems normal like it's has been and it plus it's
cold out. Can anyone give me any ideas of how my
car won't go over 3,000 RPMs thank you

How hot does it get in degrees F? Any over-heating signs besides the temp gage? Is the coolant reservoir boiling or anything? Any applicable trouble codes? I always wonder about the coolant temp sensor? I hate to see you throw parts at it.
I'm not sure the exact degree but I do know on the dash it's getting up to the red mark which is almost all the way, at one point yesterday it was so hot and I was adding water and it got on the engine and when I tried to start it it took about 5 mins to start like it wasn't getting spark, is it possible the catalytic converter is now bad from that instance or did I foul out some plugs ?

In spite of everything you've done it sounds to me like you've got air trapped in the cooling system. Try draining it and refilling with the car parked facing uphill. That sometimes helps the air from deeper in the engine find its way to the top where it can be released with the purge valve. A plugged catalytic converter could be causing you some problems too. Is that why you worked on the cooling system or was that for other reasons. If you can get it driving at all you can take it to a muffler shop and get them to check it out.
I took it in to a shop and it was the catalytic converter that was bad, it was making my car work harder because it was blocked in the converter thanks for yalls help
