2006 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS

Asked by Aliciaak Jul 08, 2015 at 03:12 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 grand prix that's making a clunking noise going into reverse, & the
transmission fluid temp. Is reaching 200* + at times. It was also shifting erratically when
I'd first take off, until I reached about 50mph but I added some Lucas Trans. Fix and it
hasn't done that since. What could be causing this? I am a widow& single mother who
can't afford to replace the transmission right now so if that's the only solution, please tell
me what to do to prolong having to do this? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

If the Lucas worked for you that is great but can not tell you how long its going to work if it happens again you are going to need some transmission work. Have not used the transmission fix from Lucas but have used some of their other products and all of them has been working for about one to two years and it's still working.

Thank you firebird33. Yes as I said Lucas Trans fix seems to have helped w/ one of my transmission problems( at least temporarily) but what about the two(**HARD SHIFTING & CLUNKING NOISE GOING INTO REVERSE & **ATF TEMP. 200 degrees +) remaining problems?

Visit a transmission shop and have it diagnosed as soon as possible. There is a possibility whatever is wrong can be corrected before it turns into a complete transmission failure. If the transmission is failing, or about to fail, the sooner you know the better so you can plan your next step.
