My car dies for no reason

When car running & in park will die for no  reason. While driving down the road car will die put in neutral car making clicking noise when trying to start and have to pump gas pedal

That sounds like the fuel pump. What year is the car?

A 2006. Could it be a computer chip? My buddy keeps telling me it might be

Get the codes read on your car. The computer probably knows what's wrong, but you have to ask it. You'll get better guidance there than the vague shot-in-the-dark guesses you're getting from your friends and here.
