Transmission shutter after full rebuild 06 grandprix

Asked by SBarden Nov 07, 2016 at 03:06 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just had my transmission rebuilt after OD went out.
After getting repairs done and on way home I
noticed a shutter from 1st to 2nd gear while
accelerating. Took back to repair shop and left for
couple days. Repair shop has reported that they
can not replicate problem. Picked up Grand Prix
and drove for a day or so and problem returned.
Does not do all the time.

All you can do is stay on top of the shop. You might want to take them along for a test drive so you can show them what the problem is.

Try to keep track of certain conditions such as speed, wormed or cold engine, while turning, etc so you can tell the shop and hopefully it do it while they're driving it

Hopefully when the front clutch assembly was replaced, they were soaked in fluid prior to the reassembly. It sounds to me like the clutches are binding from lack of lubrication.

And, if they didn't do the job correctly (as Yuri has mentioned) they may not be keen to do it over again for free, so you may have to be a little firm with them. If they're a reputable shop, they should come to the table with a reasonable solution even if they aren't happy about it.
