Clunking noise in car when accelerating

Asked by GuruTFDS Apr 03, 2017 at 11:34 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I take off in the car from a complete stop at
around 30 mph, the car makes a pretty loud clunk
noise and jumps (not transmission related, but
sounds like I am hitting a pot hole in the road) and I
know that I have a bad tire rod but could this be
related to that or something else?

Bad suspension and steering parts can make a wide range of noises. Its best to have a shop put it on a lift or drive it and see what the issue is as it could be dangerous to drive it too long while not fixing it.
