2006 Montana SV6 sport towing capacity

Asked by nitehawk Jun 25, 2009 at 07:46 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6 Base Minivan

Question type: General

I have a 2006 Montana SV6 sport 3.9 liter extended wheel base with towing package. I am trying to find out the towing capacity of this vehicle. everywhere i look it gives me all kinds of formulas that can get confusing.
We are looking to purchase a travel trailer that weighs 2650 LBs and want to know if the van can pull it safely. the books says it can pull 3500 lbs does this include passengers in the van or just what it can pull

maximun trailer weight includes trailer and what is in it, so don't overload the van besides- payload for your van is around 700-800 lbs., , and get a trailer brake installed- they are recommended for any trailers above 2000 lbs. and will help slow you down. You are correct that the tow rating for your van is 3500 lbs.- use your tow haul mode or pull it in regular drive, not overdirve. I hope this helps
