I have a 2004 Subaru forester 2.5 all wheel drive
automatic. I have a 2003 Subaru outback legacy
2.5 engine can I put the outback engine in m6
forester??? Compatible??

Yes, these are both EJ251 engines. You will want to keep the intake manifold and attached wiring from the 2004 Forester and reuse on the replacement engine.
