Can I fit a 2005 Subaru Impreza engine in a 1993 Impreza?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I want to know if I can hype up my car by placing a younger engine into my older car.

100% not plug and play. However, if you are electrically savvy and have a ton of time to read, research, source parts (ALL the parts!) and time to strip both harnesses and completely rewire whatever needs to be rewired..........then... maybe, yes. That doesn't even get you to "does it FIT" into the engine bay.. I have no idea.

You also need to consider flywheel / clutch / torque converter compatibility / custom engine mounts... idk. It's a nice idea but it's not always "simple" unless you find someone else that has done it.
