The motor that origionally came in that model, a non turbo DOHC 2.5l

Only the 1998 2.5 RS was DOHC, 99+ has the SOHC 2.5L. You can get almost any EJ251 to work from a 00-07 Impreza, Forester, or Legacy, but you may have to swap cam gears and sensors from your RS depending on the motor you chose.

Carfax for a 2000 2.5L Impreza model I am looking into says DOHC. Jeff: Where did you get that 99+ are SOHC? Not that I don't believe you, I just need the source to look for more acurate info. Thanks
