I admit I'm not familiar with a 95 hood "prop rod", but on older Corvettes, the hood has to be first raised to unlock the holding pin before it releases. that's why on windy days, it is a good thing to use a wooden stick or cut broom handle to prop up the hood so the wind doesn't push it up and it releases. Have you tried using something like silicone spray or WD-40 on the rod to see if that will loosen up the rod?

The rod is on thedrivers side toward the front. It extends to about 38 in. It has a stop at full extention that you line up to close.wd 40 doesnt seem to help. It feels very solid with no motion at all. Considering justbuying a new one,$32.00 to $79.00
