How do I know if my cobalt needs fluid or new transmission

Asked by Willie Feb 18, 2020 at 01:04 AM about the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Chevy cobalt manual shift it just
started this a couple of days ago shifting into
gear is a breeze but it acts like it’s slipping out
of gear. In other words it acts like I’m still
holding the clutch down while driving does
that mean it needs transmission fluid or my
transmission is about to go out. And if
wondering no it is not leaking out any fluid
never have since I got it but it does has over
200,000 miles on it.

Low or dirty fluid can make a manual tranny slip out of gear, sure. Wear on synchronizers too. At 200K miles your tranny is overdue for service.
