I have a 06 chevy cobalt 2.2 was making rattling noise.oil level was low added oil but,won't start cranks over but won't fire

My 2006 chevy cobalt 2.2 won't start.Wife went to get oil for it was not showing on dipstick.she trued
starting it but it would not.had it towed home I added oil but just cranks over won't start
