low coolant temp

When I first turn the key to start my car the temp
for the coolant says minus 41 degrees then the car
is hard to start and it won't run worth anything until
it says 158 degrees, could the sensor be bad not
letting the car run?

Yes, a variety of electronic problems could exist that make starting and proper operation of your car difficult. The first thing to do is scan it for trouble codes. The computer has tons of stored information that will guide you or a technician to the problem.
