My headlights wont turn off unless i unhook battery. Also runs my battery diwn if not unhooked. Bright lights always on. What could be the problem?

I agree, no matter which year it is, the switch is the first place to start. Some switches last for over 60 years or longer, others work for some time and then don't work any more. Do you have the auto-on after dark lights? That relay may need to be looked at also.
