A/C does not shut off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Chevy Equinox. The A/C is always
on, even when the switch is in the off position
(light isn't on). How do I get it to stop running
during these cold months?

Pull the blower fuse, note the diagram, that should stop the blower motor, but, it won't blow heat either. The wiring at blower motor in diagram, that top wire is voltage, fuse protected and hot all the time. The lower wire is ground, on and off, blower speeds are controlled on the ground circuit. One of the ground circuits could be shorted to ground, if so the blower motor will run. as you can see, the ac request comes from the hvac control module. Is the compressor clutch engaged? Might be something wrong with hvac control module? as far as ac, check to see if compressor clutch is engaged? If it is not engaged, that isn't ac.
