My 1998 Outback is showing a code 0183 fuel temp.sensor. I changed the sensor, but can't get code to clear. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your answer.I will check the circuits. The sensor I put in was not new. It was from a car not showing any fuel temp. codes. Do you know what the voltage going to the sensor should be? What should the resistance value of sensor should be at min. temp. and max. temp.? JimmyB
bad wire connection, disconnected wire, drive cycle and other examples here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/74419-p0183-fuel- temperature-sensor-a-circuit-high-input/
And I don't know any of the specs on the temp sensor.
Thanks for your help. I checked the harness a section at a time from the pump to the ECU. There is a short somewhere in the last section from the front door post to the ECU. I ran out of time tonight. I did do some experimenting on the temp. probe. It reads 40 ohms at 110 degrees and 150 ohms at 32 degrees, so it does react to temp. changes.
