I removed a gen 1 2.5 dohc from my 99 legacy outback. I installed a gen 2 2.2 from my 99 impreza sport. Problem is the intakes are different. I can't find a gen 2 with the same idle air control as the 2.5 gen one and egr. can I swap to gen one heads and run a gen 1 2.2 intake?

Question type: General

Engine swap that has not been quick. Is there a gen 2 2.2l intake that would
have an egr port and the same idle air control as the gen 1 2.5 dohc?

I have located one with the egr port covered by a plate but not sure of idle air
yet.

Is there any way to convert gen one harness to gen 2 air control?

Would the impreza outback sport ecm work or would the different transmissions be an issue.

I know where there is a 2.2 gen 2 legacy ecm. Are they gear ratio specific. I doubt they are that smart.

That would be ok the trany will shift accordingly to its programmed shift points, by RPM anyway.

the ecu doesn't effect the tranny at all. ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. you can also find a gen 1 2.2 intake. it will plug in to your current harness. I believe the 95 with auto trans has the egr and everything will was seamlessly
