Thanks. I May have forgot to do the obvious. My granddaughter is doing a coast to coast trip. It ran fine for about 4 hours before acting up this morning.
This may be a rhetorical question, but, did you ever think of taking this to your mechanic???? I mean, your GRANDDAUGHTER is taking this car across country? Don't you think that deserves a little special attention? You don't want her to break down in the middle of nowhere and call you??

Markw1952 Yes sir. They did original scans and because of time restraints they also pulled and replaced tranny pan gasket, balance and alignment. I do have plenty of mechanical experience, just not on that particular vehicle. And I would never send her on her way if the problem was going to be detrimental to her in any way. She has made it a little over half way now But I do appreciate your concern and understand it.

Firebird338 engine light never came back on after clearing codes from 02 sensor
Agaveshooter,. I appreciate your comments, I see this is a 2000 model, how many miles on this car?? And, since she's already in transit, sending it to your local mechanic is not an option... I imagine that she has a AAA roadside assistance card... Did you check the MAF sensor?? Intermittent problems are so difficult . My advice is staying on the main highway and easy reach to repair shops.. good luck.

Markw1952 I will check into that. Also milage 160550. I did also change out the TPS. With no codes coming on its kinda like a crap shoot. I appreciate all the helpful information and suggestions
also your fuel pump sending unit may be causing problems this is the whole unit under the seat which also contains the fuel pump and the sending unit mine (the sending unit) had a crack in it , this was discovered after putting a NEW fuel pump in . I had to change out the whole assembly
Didn't they say in the original question that the fuel pump was replaced along with the fuel filter?
Maybe you a defective pump?? This is when going to a professional is an advantage?? A professional would have to do the job over for the same cost to get it right... If you install this yourself and have either connection or installation problems, It's all on you.
