Why not just rebuild the 2.5 SOHC engine that came with your car.
Look at it this way, even if you spent $5,000 which I think is high, you're
going to have a brand new motor that can go 100,000 miles or more.
Now compare that with a new car or $5000 per year for five years if
you're lucky, probably more like $6,000 per year in payments, and that
doesn't even count routine maintenance. If your car is in excellent
condition body wise and your transmission is sound, there's nothing
cheaper than fixing your car. How many miles are on your car?
Post a picture of your car and it's interior. And, if you do all this, you'll
be able to drive it for a few more years and sell it. If, on the other hand
your car's interior is shabby and the seats are all ripped up, dump the car.
That is my best advice.
