My Subaru keeps turning off after my starter and rooters were changed out

Asked by N9hererra Nov 20, 2015 at 12:03 AM about the 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5 XT Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My mechanic changed out my
started and rooters. When I started
the car it was super shake. He told
me to take it for spin and it was fine
but after a while the car would turn
off on me. He then let the car on for
a while till the shake went away. After
that it seemed fine. But later at night
my car turned off on me twice when
I'm at a stop. So I have to turn it
back on again and when I'm hitting
the break one of my lights comes on
Oil Temp. Or something? I don't
know why my car is turning off. The
mechanic said its normal for my car
to shake and to act this way but I
don't think he even knows...

Wow, this one is really odd. when you say 'rooters' do you mean brake rotors? But not pads? And starter? We need a lot more information, but one thing I can say for absolutely certain that so-called mechanic is an idiot and I don't EVER resort to name-calling but it's now way no how normal to 'shake' at any time. Can you describe the warning light as well as you can? Does it look like an old-fashion oil can with a spout and a drip coming out?

Phew! XT turbo? You're playing with fire, as it could be any of MANY things. Find a Subie turbo wrench and be careful to not drop a ton into this ever-so-fragile beast...... Turbos are NOT Subi's bailiwick.

TheSubaruGuruBoston- interesting remarks, so, Subaru turbos are not their strength, although, the WRX STI has the turbocharged engine.

TheSubaruGuruBoston, so, may I conclude that it's better to stick with the naturally aspirated engines?
