how to replace an antenna on 1996 svx
1 Answer
Much like any other car: remove old, install new. Or a little more detailed: 1. Remove the antenna nut and base. 2. Turn the radio to ON and the antenna rod will extend. If the antenna rod does not extend, always check the power supply to the power antenna before replacing the power antenna assembly. 3. Grasp the antenna rod and pull up. Make sure the antenna rod fully separates from the antenna base. Note the direction of the gear section on the antenna rope (rear facing). The new antenna rod must be installed the same direction. 4. Insert the replacement antenna rod with the radio in the ON position. Insert the antenna rope with the gear section facing the rear of the vehicle. 5. Turn the radio OFF to retract the antenna rod. If the antenna motor stops before the antenna has fully retracted, turn the radio ON and then immediately turn it OFF. Guide the antenna rope and rod into the antenna assembly. 6. Reinstall the antenna nut and base. Cycle the radio ON and OFF to check the antenna operation. 7. Go to the fridge and grab yourself a beer to drink while you're patting yourself on the back after this little fix.
