Car stops dead while driving.

Asked by WhiteLady06 Sep 22, 2017 at 08:32 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Impala SS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Started w/radio going off & then back on, then all
lights & radio, few seconds. Now driving car & all
electric goes out & car stops des while driving. If I
move cable it will re start? Battery tests fine? BCM?  
Please help.

Sorry, forgot to add, key would not move nor could I take it out. Battery cables are what I moved (ground) & it started up, no problem & then same thing driving, AC, radio, lights, everything & car stops, engine gaggles a few seconds & everything is out, no lights, can't use windows, can't move key or car.

Our 2009 Impala was dying when it was cold. I'd take it out of the garage and before I was out of the drive it quit. Would get various system error messages. Found on-line lots of people with the same problem, but no one had a fix. Took it to a repair shop, they couldn't duplicate the problem. Finally took it to a Chevy dealer. They replaced the ECM control module. Works like a charm now. Been over two months--no issues at all.
