2006 Chevy Malibi LT 3.5L Have oil leaking from the 2 bolts where the oil filter screws in. Any thoughts?

Have you tried tightening the screws? Also, the oil may be coming from the filter not tight enough or a bad rubber gasket in the filter. If the screws are tight and filter gasket is good, then you will need to replace the oil filter housing gasket.

Thx for your response. I'm a shade tree and can stab a tranny etc..BUT the Chilton did not say what this part was that the oil filter screws into...it elongated...I thought maybe at first this little car had a cooler or something. It puzzled me.
I suspect the oil is just dripping off the bolts from a leak nearby.

ok....a auto chain store look up stated its a OIL FILTER ADAPTER GASKET and it looks right...wow I never knew there was such a thing. Thanks Jorge!

and thank you F. O. R. ...You may still be right but I hope not. I don't have time for a front wheel drive front main or some crap right now I gotta get back to my real job.

Maybe just a leaking valve cover gasket.
