My sister is offering to sell me her 2006 Chevy Trailblazer for $3600.00. $1000.00 down and $100.00 a month until pd. off. It has 200,000 miles on it but I only drive about 5,000 miles a year. She says it runs like a dream. Is this a good deal?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

My husband is worried about the dual overhead cam and whether it has a timing belt or chain. She says it is a 6 cylinder. Does that come in a 6 cylinder?
Her husband use to own a car lot but is getting older so he retired and gave it to his son.  He says it is in great shape.  She is going to drive it from Missouri to Denver to deliver it and fly back. She is honest but may not know everything about the vehicle.

Way to many miles, cars with that type of milage is going to break down and it will the major items. In my opinion 3,600 is way to high for a car with that much miles on it. I would save my pennies and get something with lower miles...

But then again you're not gonna buy a new car car for $3,600 and yes, it will need some major repairs pretty quick, like timing components, transmission service and if it was well kept, it may go 250k miles with no issues

I already told you about the size engine and about the timing chain.

Look it up on Kelly Blue Book or another sight to see the value of the vehicle.

Thank you all for the answers. I do desperately need a vehicle and she just had it inspected this week. She has the paperwork to bring with her.

That is the kind of car you drive until it needs an expensive repair, Then you junk it. Offer her less if it checks out OK.
